Power & Place
- Discussion -
Angkor, both in its scale and its various facets of design, was a symbol of Khmer power and authority. It was a performative city in multiple senses. For the people of Cambodia, it was a representation of the king’s power and authority. For visitors from distant lands, it was a demonstration of the untold riches of the Khmer Empire. Although not all of Angkor has stood the test of time, the remains of this great city can tell us a great deal.
