Concluding Discussion
Angkor was a powerful symbol of Khmer might and authority. It was a performative city in a variety of different ways. For the people of Cambodia, it was a representation of the king’s power and authority. For visitors from distant lands, it was a demonstration of the untold riches of the Khmer Empire. How did different people perceive the city? How does architecture serve to show and reinforce power in the city.
